Grady - 5 Months

So my blog has been seriously neglected in the last week - but at least I have an excuse. My imac got a little cold so I had to take her into the doc - but don't worry after lots of tests she's good as new -- I have so much that I need to get on this blog - the sun has finally come out allowing me to get out there and shoot!

I'll start this week of with a little post of my nephew - I mean I just can't help it. He is seriously the most lovable, squeezable, and hugable baby boy, I just love him to pieces -- and he's on his way over to see me right now!!

Grady John - 5 months
Grady is such a big boy in his high chair - he just started eating rice cereal and green peas - mmmmmm ha
i just love his smirk -
Another new favorite of his - the bouncer. He really gets going in this thing. big fan.

are you seeing the rolls ---
he's also doing this thing where he shrugs his shoulders which isn't the most flattering on his already nonexistent neck - bring on the chub.
sweet baby.
we do this shot at every month

I think he's so serious in these because he's concentrating so hard on keeping his balance.
and these are from bath time at Grammy's, hince the towel underneath and measuring cup- Grammy didn't have the proper bath time things.
ROLLS!
Grady loves his bath.

I love you Grady man.

Dallas Snow Day

Well I sure did plan my trip up to Dallas to visit Bryan perfectly. I could not believe when I woke up to see a full blanket of snow outside and more snow coming down, which didn't stop once all day. It was the most snow in Dallas history on record - CRAZY!! So of course we had to get out, play and take pictures of this snow. It reminded me of a trip to NYC in 2006 - Valentine's Day weekend NY had the most snow in a 24 hour period in 100 years. So cool to see twice!! Here are a few pictures of our fun snow day! - (taken with both my professional camera and my point and shoot)

This is my favorite tree at White Rock Lake - I wanted to see what it looked like in snow!

Brad, L.B. and Kate : Family Pictures

SO. This blog is so way over due. Please forgive me L.B. my bad. This past fall we planned this shoot - L.B. tells me she wants them taken on her Dad's land in La Grange. This is what she said.... you know it's past the trailer park (maybe she said Colorado Landing to be politically correct) down by the river by the sewage plant. riiiiiiight. OK L.B. I'll meet ya there. Don't get me wrong - I love when clients find a location to shoot that they love and want their pictures taken there - takes some stress off me, however when they tell me it's right by the city sewage plant I'm a little hesitant and afraid of the obstacles I'll be coming across (literally) during the shoot.

Then we pull up and I take one look and I'm smitten. This place has magic light. Not Kidding. It's beautiful any time of the year and I've been going back ever since. I love it. I will NEVER doubt L.B. or another client when they tell me where they want their pictures taken. You'll see in just a second what I mean.

Anyway, I am so grateful for meeting this family.
They are adorable, Kate is adorable and I can't wait for the next photo shoot - which is soon! Kate just turned 2!

**
Future clients - it's a great thing to think of locations. I'm always here for help but it gets hard to continually be thinking of new places all the time. Also, when thinking of the location think LIGHT - great, beautiful LIGHT!!

my favorite picture of the day. just a beautiful portrait of an adorable little girl.
close runner up.
Brad and L.B.
Kate was a bit errr changeling at times....she didn't so much like my camera in her face. This is one of the many expressions I got during the shoot.

She was a real big fan of the shells. This is down by the Colorado river in La Grange with the bluff in the background - can you say hello fall - and who says we don't get seasons in Texas.
realizing I was taking a picture --- haha

our attempt with the whole family - dogs and all!
and last - the adorable Kate picking the flowers.

My favorite Things...

I'm not the best blogger in the world, but I try. I try to show you a little piece of me through my pictures - seeing the way I see things through my lens. I thought once a week I would loosen it up a bit and just show y'all me. On a day to day basis - pictures of my friends and family, primarily my super squishy nephew, Grady. So today I thought I would share with y'all my 5 favorite things...this week anyway.

1. First up: Bare Minerals Mascara. I love this mascara - I'm always on the look out for good, non-clumpy, non-smelly, length building mascara - and I think I found it.

2. My new 100mm 2.8 Macro Lens - I haven't gotten the chance to use this at a wedding just yet but I'm super excited about it. I've had it for awhile and shot dumb things like the dogs eyelashes and boy can you count each one. It's awesome! Can't wait for the ring shots at my next wedding!

3. Frye Boots - I looooooove my Frye Boots. They are comfortable, pretty, stylish and my new best friend. Thanks Mom and Karissa!!

4. The most relaxing thing on Earth - My hammock. This was the sweetest gift I received from a friend a few years ago. When I got it in the mail I almost couldn't believe it. I had always wanted a hammock, for
years, but for some reason never got one. Well apparently said friend heard me say this a lot and bam I got one in the mail! You should seriously get one. I particularly like this one because it folds around me like a little cocoon - it's a good snuggle buddy.

5. And Last - saved the best for last - MY LOUBOUTIN SHOES from Bryan. I received these beauties for Christmas this year and have yet to wear them - I don't want to mess them up - but me and them have a date for Valentine's Day. When I opened them at Christmas my family thought I got a
ring -- but nope - they were tears for my new red-soled nude dream shoes! That Bryan, he knows the way to my heart!!

6. Ok and a bonus one -- Since I already mentioned my little man, here are a few of Grady - he's already 4 months - I can't believe it!!
